The Hunter Region’s leading drama school, Hunter Drama, is known for bringing world-famous works to Newcastle stages - whether that be Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss, or Stephen Sondheim. But to bring a form of media that isn’t usually seen, but heard, that’s another level of difficult. But “difficult” doesn’t scare Hunter Drama, as they will be bringing Orsen Wells’ world-famous radio play ‘WAR OF THE WORLDS’ to the Civic Playhouse this August!

On October 30th 1938, Orsen Wells and the Mercury Theatre changed the course of live broadcasting forever. The War Of The Worlds was a radio play that shocked a nation and had many terrified listeners convinced that an actual alien invasion of Earth was taking place. Now, 85 years later, Hunter Drama's senior drama students will present a faithful recreation of the world's most famous radio event.
